John 12:23-30 “Was That Thunder I Heard?”

John 12:23-30

Watch the teaching here!

Life has its ups and downs, and when the downs inevitably come, there are really only two prayers we can lift up to God. “Rescue Me Lord”  or “Glorify Yourself, Lord!” Which brings us back to the illustration where rescue me relates to loving your life but glorify Yourself says Jesus, I love and trust You more than myself! It’s hard to say, “I don’t understand what’s happening or why, but I trust you, Lord, to handle it and work it out for Your Glory, not my comfort!” It gets easier for this to be our prayer when we realize everything Jesus does is because He loves us and has an amazing plan for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11)! His flesh was reluctant, but Jesus denied His flesh and praised the Father! The Father answered Him in an audible voice, “I have, and I will do it again!”

It astounds me sometimes how God will prepare His message, bring people to church on Sunday, speak to the exact situation going on in their lives, but they walk out the door unmoved, unaffected, and unchanged! They heard Jesus pray and then a booming sound from Heaven. It should’ve convinced all He was in direct communication with God, but some said it was “thunder” while others said, “Maybe it was an angel’s voice!” Jesus says, “Yo, that sound you heard was God’s voice, and not for my sake, but for yours, fool!” Jesus was warning those choosing to remain spiritually deaf to listen up. God is speaking directly to you for your sake to help you have life and have it more abundantly!
