John 17:6-10 “Take No Glory”

Jesus spent time praying for His disciples. He prayed for their protection and sanctification. Everything that Jesus did was for the glorification of the Father and He knew that, through their sanctification, the Father would be glorified. We were created to be His witness, to reveal to hurting and dying people that He has defeated sin, death, and the world once a for all!

This was our intended purpose, but because we are all born with a sin nature, we all also have the desire to be glorified. The disciples struggled with this (Luke 22:24-27). Jesus helped them in their struggle and now we have the help of the Holy Spirit to remind us why we were made. With the power of the Holy Spirit, we must live our lives to glorify the Father (1 Corinthians 10:31-33). We should never seek glory for ourselves when we serve others.

Lesson4Life: A true disciple takes no glory, but gives it all to Jesus.
