John 16:23-33 “Don’t ask Me, Ask Him!”

Jesus taught us to pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus. The disciples weren’t used to prayer in this way. If they needed something from Jesus, they just asked Him because He was right there with them! But Jesus was trying to show the disciples that they had access to the Father through the Holy Spirit and His blood. He was trying to prepare them for the many trials and tribulations that awaited them. Likewise, we also have access to the Father. In the midst of our tribulations and trials, when can come to Him through Jesus for peace and comfort. God receives you as His son or daughter and loves you as He loves His Son. He wants to bless you through His Son when you believe and trust in Him. We just have to ask (Matthew 7:7-8). Keep praying and asking, but ask in the name of Jesus according to His nature for what you need. We can have peace knowing that even on our darkest days, God will never forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). Jesus ensured the disciples – and it’s our assurance now – that despite our tribulations, we can have peace because He has overcome the world (John 16:33). His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:8-10).
