John 14:1-6 “Everyone Goes Somewhere”

Watch the sermon here!

Jesus spent a lot of time trying to prepare His disciples for the tragic events that would unfold. He told them one of them would betray Him. He told Peter that he would deny Him three times. He told them that He was going to die. Shortly after Judas left, however, He encouraged them saying, “Let not your hearts be troubled!” (John 14:1). He assured the disciples that He was only leaving to go to prepare a place for them.

The disciples didn’t quite understand what Jesus was saying. Where was Jesus going? How were they supposed to know the way? Jesus made it plain and clear. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. NO ONE comes to the Father except through me.”

Unfortunately, this is not a common belief in the world today. People  try to make their own way into the Kingdom of Heaven, but it cannot and will not work. Many people think that they will make it into heaven on their good works alone. Some people will say that there are many ways to get there and they become offended at the idea of “one way.” They may claim to believe in God, but that’s not enough either for even the demons believe in Him (James 2:19). It is only by the Name of Jesus that we are saved (Acts 4:12).
